One can only imagine Colin Montgomerie’s reaction had this been the sight four years ago when he led Europe to victory in the 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in Wales. There is certainly no chance of getting a round of golf on the Welsh course this week and not with Celtic Manor playing host to a NATO conference. As you can see from the photos below blocking the path of any golf shots was a collection of military aircraft and equipment. The aircraft is a F-35 Lighting 11 while there was a scout ...

World No. 1 Rory McIlroy let slip the clubhouse lead with what he described was a ‘frustrating’ finish to his round of a three under par 67 on day one of the BMW Championship in Denver, Colorado. McIlroy had raced to the lead at five under par after 12 holes but ended with back-to-back bogeys at his 16th and 17th holes on the Cherry Hills course. It saw the four-time Major winner end his round tied with American Gary Woodland and Ryder Cup rookie Jordan Spieth. “I though I hit a ...

Here is a picture of Tiger Woods as you have never seen before. German artist Andy Gellenberg has created an illustration of Woods using nothing but Nike swooshes.

The Irish quartet of Gareth Maybin, Michael Hoey, Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry combined to produce an avalanche of eagles and birdies on the opening day of the European Masters in Switzerland. Ballyclare-born Maybin is the best of the four posting a six under par 64 on the now Par 70 Crans-sur-Sierre course to be trailing just two shots behind in-form Scot Richie Ramsay and Italy’s Edoardo Molinari Ramsay, who went into last Sunday’s Italian Open final round in second place, posted ...

Three-time Major winning Padraig Harrington accepts his appointment as a Gleneagles vice-captain will eventually lead to him being appointed a future European Ryder Cup captain. As reported earlier in the week by www.golfbytourmiss.com Harrington is staring at the possibility of leading Europe in just four years time when the 2018 Ryder Cup is staged in France. If so, don’t be surprised to see Harrington appointed captain of either the GB & I Seve Trophy side, if of course the event goes ...

Scotland’s Richie Ramsay continued his superb recent form thinking of shooting the Tour’s first-ever round of 59 before settling for a career low of a 62 high in the Swiss Alps on day one of the European Masters. It put Ramsay into the lead before being joined by Italy’s Edoardo Molinari who equaled his lowest score with a similar eight-under par 62. Ramsay, who last week went close to victory across the border in Turin, began thinking of posting a magical and first 59 on the European ...

Rory McIlroy has been celebrating his first visit to Denver by booming drives some 400-yards on the practice range in the  ‘Mile High State’ conditions for this week’s BMW Championship on the Cherry Hills course. The World No. 1, who is currently No. 2 on the FedEx Cup Play-Off standings, was on the range this week and amazed just how far he could hit the ball in the thin air of the Rocky Mountains State of Colorado. McIlroy is working away on the range at Cherry Hills and you ...
