It is rare, very rare for any Major Championship organizer to announce the arrival of any player.
However when that player happens to be 14-time Major winning Tiger Woods then you can understand the PGA of America, as organizer of this week’s 96th PGA Championship, wanting to let everyone know the second biggest news item of the week.
And all the PGA of America did was to send out the following one sentence statement:-
| Four-time PGA Champion Tiger Woods has arrived at Valhalla Golf Club for the 96th PGA Championship. |
After a short session on the practice range Woods joined fellow PGA winner Davis Love 111 along with Harris English and Steve Stricker on the first tee for his first look at the Jack Nicklaus designed course in 12 years, after Woods was sidelined from the 2008 Ryder Cup.

One of the most anticipated arrivals in golf this year – Tiger Woods arrives at Valhalla Golf Club and venue for this week’s 96th PGA Championship.
It seemed the whole golf course was then gathered around the first tee to witness Woods play his first practice shot.
Fortunately, there seemed to be no hint of any pain as Woods easily split the fairway with his first drive since driving off the ninth hole last Sunday in Akron, Ohio and then soon after being driven from the Firestone Golf Course.
