LIV Golfers Proudly Wearing ‘Team’ Attire At The Masters

One aspect more noticeable on day one of the 88th hosting of The Masters is the LIV Golfers in the field are proudly wearing their LIV team attire.

Leading the show of strength among at least all but one the 13 LIV players competing this week is reigning Augusta National champion Jon Rahm and wearing the LIV Golf logo on his shirt sleeve and his Legion X111 team logo on the front of his shirt.

It’s the same with his countryman and fellow Masters champ Sergio Garcia, captain of the Fireballs as the 44-year-old is wearing his LIV Golf colours despite sporting an Augusta-coloured shirt and yellow long trousers.

Bryson DeChambeau, who was the overnight leader at seven-under, is proudly wearing his Crushers team gear.

Three-time Masters winner Phil Mickelson is also wearing his LIV Golf ‘High Flyers’ team attire.

And there’s Cam Smith wearing a red-coloured shirt also with the LIV Golf logo on the sleeve and a white cap sporting his all Aussie team Ripper logo.

Though five-time major winning Brooks Koepka has elected to tee-up wearing simply Nike adorned attire.

Of course, it was just a month after LIV Golf player their first match in England when Smith captured the famed Claret Jug trophy in winning the 150th hosting of The Open championship at St. Andrews and he did so, wearing a Titleist sponsored cap along with shirt and trousers with the logo of his other sponsors.

As well,  a year ago there were 18 LIV players in The Masters field but word had it that none wore LIV Golf attire or played with golf bags that they use during regular LIV tournaments seemingly out of respect for Augusa National.

And if you go onto the Masters website and look at the photographs of all 89 players competing this week, those 13 competing with LIV are wearing non-LIV attire except perhaps Smith, as you clearly see the Crushers logo on his shirt sleeve.

However sight of all LIV golfers wearing LIV colours for a first time at Augusta National begs the question if it was LIV Golf who sought approval for the 13 to tee-up in LIV colours or did those running The Masters reach out to LIV Golf with confirmation the players could tee-up on the famed Georgia gem as though it was a regular LIV Golf event.

Also in attendance this year is LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman though the golfer known as ‘The Great White Shark’ had to join Augusta patrons in using the patrons entrance gates.

However, it didn’t seem to restrict Norman’s presence as plenty of patrons were spotted shaking hands with Norman while he was present at Augusta on Tuesday meeting up the all-Aussie practice round group of Smith, Jason Day, Min Woo Lee and Cameron Davis.

“Walking around here today, there’s not one person who said to me, ‘Why did you do LIV?'” Norman said to reporters.

“There’s been hundreds of people, even security guys, stopping me, saying, ‘Hey, what you’re doing is fantastic.’ To me, that tells you that what we have and the platform fits within the ecosystem, and it’s good for the game of golf.”
