Chaska, Minnesota … Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke says Rory McIlroy’s double Tour triumph last weekend has the whole European Team fired up ahead of Friday’s start to competition. Of courses, the passing of legendary Arnold Palmer overshadowed McIlroy’s Atlanta triumph. But judging by the jubilant scenes from the Hilton Hotel at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 just prior to midnight Irish time Sunday night, it was a clear indication the worth of McIlroy’s Tour Championship and FedEx Cup winning ...

Chaska, Minnesota …  The passing of Arnold Palmer clearly has affected USA Ryder Cup captain, Davis Love 111 as evident by his sullen eyes and speech at today’s first press conference ahead of Friday’s start to the 41st Ryder Cup. But aside the tributes to the late Arnold Palmer, Love 111 was asked who would be his Hazeltine team room leaders this week. “We have a lot of really long drivers and we can’t tell who is the longest; and we have a lot of great leaders and ...

Chaska, Minnesota … FedEx Cup champion Rory McIlroy has paid a special tribute to the late Arnold Palmer. News of Palmer’s passing had been kept quite purposely until after McIlroy had been confirmed as the Tour Championship winner and FedEx Cup champion. And it was just moments before leaving the Atlanta course McIlroy was advised of the news. Four years ago, Palmer joked he would break McIlroy’s arm if he didn’t tee-up in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando and it ...

But in a strange turnabout Bubba Watson will be part of the USAs Ryder Cup with captain, Davis Love 111 appointing Watson as his fifth and final Vice Captain. The 37-year-old Watson is a three-time Ryder Cup veteran (2010, ’12, and ’14) while he has also represented the United States in the 2016 Summer ...

England’s Craig Hinton rode a strong birdie-eagle start en route to a six-under 66 that propelled him atop the leaderboard after the opening round of the MENA Golf Tour’s Ascorp Golf Citizen Abu Dhabi Open at Yas Links course on Monday. The 27-year- old Englishman from Thame made five birdies and one eagle against a long bogey to go one clear of Joe Heraty of England and Kevin Esteve of Andorra on a hot and humid day when 28 players broke par. England’s Lee Corfield, a four-time winner ...

Chaska, Minnesota.    US President Barack Obama has led the ‘world’ tributes calling the late Arnold Palmer “the American dream come to life.” Obama praised the late golfer’s rise from a humble start in Pennsylvania to “superstardom” around the world. He says Palmer did it with a grin that hinted he had another “shot up his sleeve.” Obama says in a statement that Palmer’s freewheeling and fearless approach to golf inspired a generation. ...

East Lake, Atlanta, GA … Phil Mickelson left East Lake slamming PGA Tour officials in letting slip the opportunity to set up this week’s East Lake course akin to this week’s Ryder Cup host venue. Mickelson left for Minnesota ending with a four under par 66 but for a distant share of 22nd place at one over par in the final event of the 2015/16 PGA Tour season. And the normally ‘diplomatic’ Mickelson fired both barrels at the Tour suggesting their setting up of East Lake ...
