Greensboro, North Carolina …. Shane Lowry confirmed he will turn down the chance of a $US 1.4m first prize cheque if it means competing in next month’s Ryder Cup.
That’s what Lowry will do by electing not to contest next week’s PGA Tour’s Barclays Championship, and the opening event of the FedEx Cup Play-Off Series, and instead tee-up in the European Tour’s Made in Denmark event in Stockholm.

Love 111 had to withdraw from the recent PGA Championship as well this week’s defence of his Wyndham Championship title as recovers from hip surgery.
But his time away from the game has allowed Love 111 to concentrate more on his Ryder Cup duties and that’s also meant time spent studying the make-up of a likely European Team.

Scotland’s Martin Laird put aside a nagging knuckle concern on his left-hand to post a three under par 67.

Laird, who lives only a short distance from Sedgefield, is contesting the event for a sixth occasion ...
