Bernie Meets Up In Naples, Florida With Leading Scottish Caddy Davy Sharp.
It was a pleasant surprise that while present in Naples, Florida to report on the Franklin Templeton Shootout we should catch up with good friend, Davy Sharp.
Davy is one of Scotland’s leading club caddies and it was as a fellow member of the Crail Golfing Society I came to get to know Davy very well.
He has based himself for some six years now during the winter months in Naples, Florida where he works as a caddy at the exclusive Old Collier course, and 18-hole championship course designed ...
Bernie’s 2014 Awards – All The Winners & Some Losers.
With the season all but over for most of the world’s top golfer it is again opportune to announce my much-awaited 2104 award winners.
GOLFER OF THE YEAR – Rory McIlroy.
Two Majors, a first WGC title and capturing the European Tour’s flagship event leaves no one in doubt who was the most outstanding golfer of 2014.
Rory McIlroy also returned to No. 1 in the world, competed on a third straight victorious European Ryder Cup winning team as well as ending the year as European No. 1 and was ...
BBC Sports Awards A Farce As Rory McIlroy Denied Top Award & European Team Miss Out.
The BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards are a complete farce after World No. 1 Rory McIlroy was denied the top award in favour of F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
In a season when McIlroy dominated ‘British’ sport in capturing two Majors, a first WGC title and the European Tour’s flagship event it was Hamilton who was honoured on Sunday night in Glasgow.
The BBC needs to take a serious look at the awards and the judging process because there’s something drastically ...
Ian Poulter & Stephen Gallacher No Longer Strangers After Gleneagles.
Prior to the Gleneagles Ryder Cup Ian Poulter and Stephen Gallacher had exchanged the minimum of pleasantries.
The duo were like complete strangers despite each having competed for more than 15 years on the European Tour.
It took the Ryder Cup and an opening day Fourball pairing to finally bring the pair together, and it was a pairing and the cementing of a friendship that will live with Poulter and Gallacher for as long as they breathe.
Paul McGinley threw ‘Poults’ and the Bathgate pro into ...
Hamilton Waves BBC Sports Personality Chequered Flag In McIlroy’s Favour.
Double Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton has waved a virtual chequered flag in favour of Rory McIlroy becoming only the third golfer to be named – BBC Sports Personality of the Year Sunday night in Glasgow.
The four-time Major winning McIlroy is a hot favourite among bookies to win the award on the back of his Open Championship and PGA Championship success along with winning the BMW PGA and WGC – Bridgestone Invitational and helping steer Europe to victory in the Ryder Cup.
However ...

Two year old Dash Day easily stole the limelight when he accompanied his father into the Media Center at the Franklin Templeton Shootout in Naples, Florida.
Day had combined with American Cameron Tringale to win the 12-time event by one shot with a combined three round 32-under par tally on the Greg Norman designed Tiburon Golf Club course.
But as Day waited for Tringale to arrive to the interview room at the Media Center young Dash lived up to his Christian name and headed straight for the vacant ...
McDowell Heads To 6-Week Break After Holing 25-Foot Shootout Birdie Putt.
Graeme McDowell headed to a well-deserved six-week break having holed a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole on his closing event of 2015 at the Greg Norman hosted Franklin Templeton Shootout in Naples.
McDowell had hit an 8-iron into the green and with his ball disappearing into the cup for a last time in 2014 right on 5pm local time to hand he and playing partner Gary Woodland a share of fifth place in the 12-team event played on the Tiburon Golf Club course.
It left the close Lake Nona neighbours ...
