Bob Mac Far From Happy As He Lambasts TV Drones

Top Scot Bob MacIntyre was clearly none too happy in taking aim at SKY Golf’s drones after posting a very scrappy opening round at the 25th anniversary Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

A day after openly confiding in the aseembled media and remarking, in part, ‘I need to manage my time better’ and also ‘I have to start tweaking things if I want to achieve’ and MacIntyre was sounding off to DP World Tour officials complaining about the noise being generated by overhead SKY TV drones at Carnoustie.

Those watching TV coverage from all three host courses surely would have been impressed with the stunning overhead images being generated by the drones but not the defending Dunhill champion who was clearly annoyed by the noise being generated by the drones, particularly at the last hole of his round in eventually posting a one-under 71 to end the first day in a distant share of 78th place.

“It drives me insane. It’s like revving a car when you are trying to hit. I’ve had previous for it”, said MacIntyre in an interview with BBC Scotland.

“See, when they’re (drones) staying still, it’s fine. It’s more the buffeting from the wind and it’s trying to stay in position. It’s like a revving of a car right where you’re trying to hit. I struggle with it,” MacIntyre is reported as saying.

“I asked [the rules official] twice previous to the shot on the eighth about the drone and then I step off the shot on eight. I’m just thinking about the drone and then, yeah, a bad shot.

“And then I step off my putt on the 18th because there’s a drone there.

“I’m just trying to play golf, and I get the TV’s everything – TV money – but, I mean, they don’t need to be so close.”

MacIntyre’s playing partner, Tyrrell Hatton, also got himself in a cursing fury and was caught thrashing his club so wildly in a bunker, he almost dug up some ancient Angus artefacts says the Scottish Herald’s Nick Rogers.

Both Hatton and MacIntyre were spoken to by tournament officials with Hatton a three-time former Dunhill champ horribly bogeying his closing three holes in a two-over 74 and drop into a tie for 144th place in the $5m event.
