Dual Masters champion Bubba Watson was in the golfing bad books after his amateur playing partner, wife Angie, reckons he misread her putts on the closing pair of holes on day two of the 25th anniversary Dunhill Links Championship.
Watson has his wife as his partner for a second year running in the $5m event and with Watson posting a 70 to be just outside the top-100 and much to do in Saturday’s third round on the Old Course at St. Andrews.
In the team format the Watson’s are sharing 84th place at 11-under with the lead being 21-under.

“It’s been a blast having Angie out there today as my amateur partner”, said Watson.
“She was an absolute blast but then she three-putted a couple of holes at 17 and 18, so aside from that it’s been a good day.
“Of course, we played the tournament last year so she’s no stranger to three venues but she clearly loves Kingsbarns the best”.
Watson was then smiling when quizzed how was it between husband and wife out there inside the ropes.
“She said I gave her a couple of bad reads on the last two holes, so she’s blaming me for those”, he said.
“Seriously, it’s always been nice playing the Dunhill and I just love playing links golf, so not being in the British Open it’s just fun being back here”.
Looking back on his year, the current World No. 405th ranked Watson has contested 17 worldwide events, 12 under the LIV Golf banner, two on the Asian Tour, an earlier DP World Tour event in Denmark, one on the Korean Tour and most recently finishing T11th on the Japan Tour.
He’s best results being easily his second place finish in June’s International Series Morocco on the Asian Tour.
“It’s not been the best of season and like all golfers, we’re always looking to do better”, he said.
“So, I haven’t had a win this year so it would be nice to end the year with a win. We believe that a next win can always be around the corner. We believe that but then it doesn’t normally happen that way.”
Watson’s not only just contesting this week’s DP Wone orld Tour event but he’s also remaining in Europe and heading to Spain post the Dunhill for next week’s Open de Espana in Madrid.
As well, Watson revealed he’s also entered December’s AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at Grand Baie in Mauritius, and the fourth event on the 2027 DP World Tour schedule.
