Casey Jarvis birdied the final hole of his second round for the South African to earn himself a one shot lead heading to Saturday’s third round in the $5m Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
Jarvis was out off the 10th tee at Kingsbarns Links and despite a second hole bogey he soon ignited his round with three birdies in a row from his third hole and then another hat-trick from his seventh for an eventual five-under 67 at Kingsbarns and move into the lead by one shot at 11-under in the 25th anniversary hosting of the tournament.
The 23-year-old has already enjoyed a stella season capturing the back-to-back Magical Kenya Open presented by Asba and the Investec South African Open Championship earlier this year, and now eyeing a third win of 2026.

“I played really nicely,” said Casey.
“I felt the whole day, hit the ball really solid. My approach play was really good. Luckily rolled in a few putts in my front nine, which is the back nine, and I just felt really in control of my game out there.
“The wind was not what I expected it to be today. I thought it would be a bit more windier, so the front end played pretty gettable. Yeah, I made a few good birdies out there, especially a good birdie on 18. It hit two nice approach shots, and yeah, I mean, capitalised with holding a few putts.
“Kind of let a few slip on the front nine. Didn’t make as many putts as I would have liked to, so to finish off with a birdie is always nice going into tomorrow.
“It’s nice to have the old course for two rounds in a row now. You watch the Open growing up as a kid and now to be in contention in a tournament like this. Yeah, I’m just looking forward to it and I can’t wait to get out there over the weekend.”
If successful, Jarvis will join countryman Branden Grace, and Dunhill champion in 2012, as the only South Africans to win the Dunhill.
And those teeing-up at Kingsbarns were fortunate with the weather as storms were expected mid-afternoon but it turned out lucky for those at the course that celebrated its 25-year anniversary a year ago, as the rain did hit both Carnoustie and St. Andrews but did not fall at Kingsbarns to around 6pmish when play had ended.
