It is a couple of days shy of a month before Rory McIlroy’s proud reign as Masters Champion will end and, as such, he will under August National Golf Club rules only be allowed to  wear the famed Green Jacket within the clubhouse and grounds of Augusta National. In the past near twelve months McIlroy has endeared himself to sports fans around the globe sporting his own 38 regular Augusta National Green Jacet. He’s worn his Green Jacket during a “victory tour” to various locations, ...

New dad Bob MacIntyre admits it’s becoming difficult, in the nicest of ways, leaving the family house since the January 28th birth of son Findlay to his partner Shannon Hartley. MacIntyre finds himself still being congratulated by fellow players, caddies, Tour officials, members of the media and the golfing public alike at each new tournament he attends following Findlay’s birth. Somewhat fortunate this week’s $20m Arnold Palmer Invitational is a ‘home’ event for ...

For top-ranked Scot Robert MacIntyre remarked being a member of Luke Donald’s European Ryder Cup side is very much like working for a boss. You receive your intructions and you go do what is asked of you. MacIntyre’s boss is Luke Donald and the game’s top lefty is delighted Donald’s staying on as captain for a third straight captaincy later next year. EXCLUSIVE ….. It was an exclusive of sorts when I asked Grand Slam winning Rory McIlroy about his hosting of the up-coming Masters Champions dinner. Of course, the Masters Champion Dinner is an annual occurence on the Tuesday night of Masters week when all the past champions, along with Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley gather within the clubhouse to enjoy a meal chosen by the reigning Masters champion. This year it’s McIlroy to host the dinner and with five-time Masters champion, Tiger Woods guaranteed ...

For champion golfer Shane Lowry it was very much akin to another day in the office. Lowry was fourth out at an early 7.30am tee-off local time in Wednesday’s Arnold Palmer Pro-Am captaining his side of amateur partners Chiro Aikat, Abhivav Arnand and Daryl Risinger each members at the Arnold Palmer Bay Hill Lodge and Club and all four residing the Orlando area. Also joining the group was Lowry’s father Brendan, who this journalist and then working for the R & A media team had arranged ...

Scot Calum Hill has returned to Johannesburg on a high as he heads into this week’s Joburg Championship title defence in the South African capital. Hill ended a four-year victory drought twelve months ago cutting a swathe through the final round field, coming from eight shots back in posting a sizzling 62 under a ‘one-club’ preferred lie rule on the rain-softened Houghton course fairways to grab the clubhouse lead ahead of a near hour long wait to be crowned champion. The Crook of Devon ...

Double-winning European Ryder Cup star Matt Fitzpatrick has joined a growing chorus calling on his 2023/’25 victory team leader Luke Donald to remain in charge for the 2027 Ryder Cup defence at Adare Manor in Ireland. Fitzpatrick, 31, has represented Europe in four Ryder Cup – 2016, 2021, 2023 and 2025 – though none were more special than winning in 2023 in Rome and then successfully defending the Cup at Bethpage Park a year ago. And while Fitzpatrick would dearly love to be a member of  the ...
