Britain’s Hardest Par-3 Just Got Harder – Storm Makes Its Presence Felt

It’s been less than a month since the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St. Andrews and with the pro/amateur tournament in someway signaling the end of the Scottish golfing season and the approach of shorter daylight hours and colder/winter weather.

We’re being reminded of this turn in the weather very much so in recent days with a third storm is as many days lashing the UK  and making it’s presence really felt on the lower east coast of Scotland.

Anstruther Golf Club, or Anster as it’s more popularly known, is located just less than 20 miles from the Home of Golf at Andrews.  The club is a nine-hole laytout founded in 1890 and laid out along the Firth of Forth river shoreline.

GolfByTourMiss featured the course a few years back:  https://www.golfbytourmiss.com/2024/01/anstruther-golf-club-boasting-one-of-the-toughest-par-3s-in-britain/

The club boasts the famed par-3 in Britain – the 245-yard 5th hole – and the No. 1 ranked hole.  So difficult is the hole, it’s been ranked by the UK’s Todays Golfer magazine as the hardest in the UK.

And we again feature Anster Golf Club but in conditions so very different to two year ago.

Take a look at the conditions today and, I guess, no different to so many other Fife region golf courses, including next year’s 155th Open Championship host venue.

And the last time I’ve witnessed conditions on a golf course just as windy as today and remarkably that was on the exact opposite to the Firth of Forth and that was 11 straight miles as the bird flies at the North Berwick Golf Club.
