Top Spanish Golfer Ties The Knot As The Game’s Bigger Rewards Beckon.

Top Spanish golfer David Puig has tied the knot with news he has married long-time girlfriend and fellow golfer Berta Sanchez.

The newlyweds celebrated the happy occasion posting a series of wonderful snaps on Instagram –bertasanchezsabe and davidpuigcorrius – while among the wedding guests was Masters champion Sergio Garcia.

The current World No. 81 ranked Puig, who turns 25 on December 7th, is the reigning BMW Australian PGA Champion and captured his maiden DP World Tour title ‘down under’ after committing himself to full membership for the wraparound 2025/2026 European Tour season that got underway in Brisbane

He also retained his LIV Golf contract for 2026 and kick-started the new season in November 2025 by winning the second biggest title on the Australian Tour at the famed Royal Queensland club in Brisbane.  Puig did so shooting a score of 266 (18 under par) to win the title and in the process becoming the first Spaniard to claim the covered tournament since Seve Ballesteros in 1981.

The win was Puig’s maiden European Tour victory and it came in just his 15th start on the tour while Puig is also a two-time Asian Tour winner.

His 2026 on-course season has been capped by 26 events and best results of five top-8 finishes in his opening 10 events of the New Year including a third place finish in the opening event of the year – the Dubai Invitational.

More recently Puig was T37th in the Open de Espania.

Puig’s good season has him lying 35th on the Race to Dubai moneylist and that means entry into the closing tw0 events on the DP World Tour schedule – November 5th starting Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship and the season-ending November 12th commencing DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

And what a gift it will be for the newly weds should Puig muscle his way at year’s end inside the top-50 on the World Rankings and thus secure a maiden 2027 Masters invitation.

As for the new Mrs. Puig Essententially Sports reports Sanchez has been with Puig, reportedly, since their college days. A look at their Instagram will show their earliest photos together from 2018.  Since then, the relationship has stood strong, and just this year, it achieved a new milestone.

The couple got engaged on August 1st, with Sanchez posting on her Instagram announcing the news.

Sanchez is not simply a golfer’s partner; she herself is an accomplished player in her own right. Her collegiate golf career is impressive, with an OVC Championship record as a Jacksonville State University freshman. She was also named the Ohio Valley Conference Champion, Conference Player of the Year, and Freshman of the Year.

Later on, Sanchez shifted to Kent State University, and that was where her golf career took new

heights. She competed for the Golden Flashes women’s golf team and received multiple praises from her coaches. One of them was Casey VanDamme, who was notably impressed with Sanchez’s “commitment, determination, and belief in herself.” It was Kent State itself where she finished in the top-25 at the Lady Buckeye Invitational and had a season-best 219 at the UCF Challenge.

Hence, it’s clear that she’s no less than David Puig. The two have significant milestones in each other’s careers.

Currently, they live together in Tempe, Arizona, the same place where Puig also completed his final year of education at Arizona State University.

Anyway, heartest congratulations to the duo.
