Yurav Premlall brilliantly came within one shot of matching Tiger Woods’ all-time DP World Tour 72-hole victory record for the lowest winning score at the close of the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship at Barcelona, Spain.
The 22-year-old Premlall sensationally stormed to a stunning 14-shot victory in posting a second straight score of 63 as he claimed his maiden DP World Tour title thanks to a 28-under victory tally on the host El Prat course.
Not only did Premhall collect $50,000 for the course record presented by Nexo but close to a $400,000 victory cheque.
Premlall’s week’s work has not only secured him the winner’s cheque and a nice payday for breaking the course record, but the 22-year-old also leaps to 26th on the 2026 Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World, up from 157th.

Fellow South African Shaun Norris finished alone in second on 14 under after his closing 68.
Premlall said in his post-round interview: “No words. I’ve worked so hard to get into this position and it’s so rewarding to finally see the results of it.
“I mean the last eight, nine months have been such a struggle just to build myself onto a platform where I know I could give myself a chance to win and to end up obviously in this position.
“I’m just so grateful so it’s a dream come true.
“I’ll start with my mum – at least it’s a Mother’s Day present so happy Mother’s Day, mum! And yeah, for my dad we worked so hard to get here.
“There’s not much else I can say. I mean my whole team, support structure, all my family. It’s so rewarding to stand up on this pedestal and be able to thank everyone for being part of this journey so far.”
He picked up another shot from 17 feet at the third before confidently slamming in his birdie effort on the fourth to go eight clear.
Premlall made it a hat-trick of birdies at the fifth but had to wait until the eighth for his next gain, which was arguably the pick of the bunch.
Facing a tough up-and-down after finding the rough underneath the green, Premlall chipped in for an extraordinary birdie and an 11-shot lead.
His advantage became 12 shots courtesy of a tap-in birdie on the par-five ninth before his exhibition continued on the back nine with back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th.
That moved him 14 clear of his nearest challenger but a bogey on the 14th brought him back down to earth.
There was more magic to come, though, with a glorious birdie from off the 17th green returning Premlall to 27 under before a close-range birdie on the last put the icing on the cake.
