Darren Clarke didn’t spend time getting familiar with the TPC Sawgrass Stadium course this Tuesday.

Instead the former Open Champion could be found on one of the many practice putting greens working tirelessly with the shortest club in the bag and that continues to deliver the biggest heartache.

In fact, Clarke was sticking with a strict putting routine that involved laying out a red cloth and putting 10 balls at a time from a short distance.

And Clarke didn’t quit until he had rolled in 100 balls without missing one.

Clarke is again competing in the $US 10m event courtesy of a five-year exemption in capturing golf’s oldest Major in 2011 at Royal St. George’s.
