Padraig Harrington took off his shoes and socks and then donned a spray jacket in playing a second shot from within a hazard early in his third round of the rain-affected Honda Classic.
Harrington’s ball came to rest in the hazard down the left side of the second fairway and 176-yards from the flag.
The triple Major winner studied the shot and brilliantly picked the ball from the hazard landing the ball just short of the green and 33-feet from the flag.
Harrington then played a super flop shot to four feet but seconds after pointing to spectators to remain still, he horribly missed the putt to take bogey and fall back into a share of the lead at seven under par.
But then there was good news for the Dubliner as moments after putting out his beloved Ireland rugby side defeated England 19 – 9 in their Six Nations encounter, and for Ireland to record a 10th straight international success and remain the only nation in this year’s Six Nations to be undefeated.
Harrington had commenced his third round near 11am local time here Sunday after play was abandoned on Saturday due to heavy rain. All players will be assured of finishing their third round and then after a short break go straight into the final round.
However for the likes of Harrington it will mean completing the final round of $6.1m event from 8am onward tomorrow Monday (local time).
