Less than a fortnight after capturing their inaugural Belhaven Secretarys and Captains Championship triumph and the accolades continue for the Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club in northern Scotland.
On this occasion the home to the magnificent James Braid designed Fortrose & Rosemarkie golf course has captured this year’s Northern Counties Cup.
It is the club’s third victory in the competitions history.
Heading the team was Fortrose and Rosemarkie Secretary Mike MacDonald, who had picked off five birdies a fortnight earlier over the Craighead Links course at Crail in the Belhaven Captain and Secretary Championship, along with team mates Chris Gaittens, Allan Cameron and Lewis Reid.
The effort is commendable given each had to play 110 holes of golf over three days at Tain Golf Club (and a practice round of 18 holes only the day before).
The Northern Counties Cup trophy, that was first handed out 114 years, is now proudly in the Fortrose and Rosemarkie clubhouse.
The Club last won the trophy in 2002 at Tain and in 2006 at Royal Aberdeen.
The competition is competed for by all of the top Clubs from the North and North-East of Scotland each year.
