Woods Admits Game Of Golf Going Forward Remains ‘Murky’ & There Still ‘Many Moving Parts’

Tiger Woods admits the immediate future for golf remains ‘murky’ and there is ‘moving parts’ before an agreement is reached with golf’s warring parties.

After near seven-month Woods is returning to formal competition at this week’s Hero World Challenge, and in what is virtually a ‘Take 2’ attempt to contest the 20-only event on the Albany course in The Bahamas.

A year ago, Woods was due to tee-up but limped into the media centre to advise it would not be competing until earlier today when the 15-time major champion casually walked, and with no sign of any discomfort, to take him place alongside Hero Moto Corp executive chairman Dr. Munjal.

Woods faced nearly 40 questions and in a formal transcript than run into 10 pages.

Probably some of his more ‘without beating around the bush’ answers came from questions related to what the men’s professional game has been handling since the shock news last June that two-year ‘war’ was seemingly over.

“The players were taken back by it, by what happened. So quickly without any input or any information about it, it was just thrown out there”, said Woods.

“I was very surprised that the process was what it was. We were very frustrated with what happened and we took steps going forward to ensure that the player involvement was not going — we were not going to be left out of the process like we were. So part of that process was putting me on the board and accepting that position”.

And when asked how he saw the golfing landscape in the next few years, Woods said: “I would say that the answer is murky. I would
have to say there’s quite a bit of — there’s a lot of moving parts on how we’re going to play.

“Whether it’s here on the PGA Tour or it’s merging, or team golf. There’s a lot of different aspects that are being thrown out there all at once and we are trying to figure all that out and what is the best solution for all parties and best solution for all the players that are involved”.
