Double D Continues To Show His Fondness For Hong Kong Host Venue

Scotland’s David Drysdale continues to show his fondness for the host course, ensuring himself all four rounds in the Hong Kong Open.

Drysdale, and with wife/caddy Vicky again calling the shots, added a one-under-par 69 to his opening 68 and move to three-under in the premier Asian Tour event.

Double-Ds effort also continues a great run of form in his rookie Asian Tour season having now ensured himself weekend work in now 10 of 13 events he’s contested this ‘first of his career’ seasons.

“Yes, happy to make the weekend rounds”, he said.

“I didn’t feel I was on my game at the start of the week but I have been gaining on it the past couple of days, including today when I felt I could have been three or four shots better.

“What I was doing was hitting it above the hole and giving myself tricky putts and just dribbling them down and hoping they would rather go in rather than being more aggressive with them.

“So, happy to be here for the weekend and hopefully now I can improve a little more the last couple of days”.

Of course, we’ve been reporting the proud Scot is no stranger to the famed Hong Kong Golf Club course having first teed-up in 2010 while he secured a best finish of T5th in the 2018 edition of the event, and under the joint Asian Tour and DP World Tour.

This week also is his second appearance at the venue having been in the field for the inaugural World City Challenge earlier this year, and where he finished in a share of ninth.

“I just love the course. Love it and I’ve played it loads of times over ther years”, he said.

“It’s just great, old-style, tree-lined, tricky golf course that I just like so much.

“I hit it just one inch into the rough down at my first hole today, and I’ve done that now for two days and just one inch off the fairway and then you just lose control playing your second.

“I stood there with 170 to the flag and you could have hit any club you wanted to.  You know you’re going to get a flyer but you just need to trust yourself.

“It’s just a tricky, little golf course with the key that you’ve got to hit the fairways and you need to be below the hole”.

What now would be nice for Drysdale is a third round 65 as he had produced in the March event.
