Woods Predicted To Leap 1,000 World Ranking Places If He Captures Hero World Challenge

Nassau, Bahamas,

Following last week’s Official World Rankings (OWGR) controversy we’re now learning 15-time major-winning Tiger Woods would jump 1,000 places should he capture the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas

Woods is returning to the competition and the event his foundation hosts in a first event since the emotional scenes last July in missing the halfway cut at the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews.

It was Woods last OWGR ranking event and dropping from then 994th in the world to 1009th whereas his current ranking is even lower to be now ranked World 1,266th.

The last time Woods was ranked anywhere near his current ranking was in being the World No. 973 in finishing T41st following the 1995 Masters.

Of course, Woods has played little golf this year, in fact, only three events – T47th at Augusta, a WD at the PGA Championship and missing the halfway cut at the Home of Golf.

With no-cut in next week’s 18-player Hero World Challenge Woods is, at least, guaranteed to improve his OWGR but if he was to win, it’s been predicted by Nosferatu he would leap-frog into the top-250.

Woods has won the event, and first staged in January, 2000, on five occasions and also finished runner-up on a similar number of times, the last being in 2013 when he lost a play-off to Zach Johnson.

Eight of the current top-11 players in the world will be teeing-up on the host Albany course in the Bahamas headed by World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler.
