Power Soaring With Eagle, Par, Birdie Finish At The Inaugural Bermuda Championship

Seamus Power has sensationally made it two halfway cuts in succession finishing eagle, par and birdie in a round of a four-under par 67 on day two of the inaugural Bermuda Championship.

Power, who has forfeited full 2019/20 PGA Tour membership at the end of last season, is clearly determined to make the most of his limited opportunities in making the cut on the Royal Blue course by three shots with a 36-hole five-under par total.

The effort saw the West Waterford player jump 29 places and into a T27th position.

The American trio of Harry Higgs (65), Brendan Todd (63) and Scottie Scheffler (69) head the $US3m field at 11-under par in Southampton.

Power is contesting his fourth event of the new wraparound season having missed the cut in his opening two starts – A Military Tribute at Greenbrier and the Sanderson Farms Championship.

The Irishman then mid last month teed-up in the Houston Open to play all four rounds in eventually finishing T67th.

Now after two rounds in Bermuda is now just six shots from the lead and with 36-holes to play.

Power had commenced his second round from the 10th and was quickly on he move up the board with birdies at 11, 12 and 14 but then sticking out like a proverbial dog’s hind leg is a double-bogey at the par-4 fourth hole or the unlucky 13th of his round where he found the rough off the tee.

Then came the fireworks when he eagled the par-5 seventh hole of the 16th of his round when he found the green with his second shot and one-putted ahead of a birdie at his last, the par-3 ninth.
