McIlroy Takes Slight Swipe At Trump In An Irritating Pet ‘Golfing’ Peev.

We all have some form of complaint or other in life, and something that gets on your nerve.

Well, four-time Major winning Rory McIlroy had a slight ‘dig’ at President Donald Trump in being asked about his own pet complaint.

McIlroy was speaking on the latest ‘Rory and Carson’ podcast and was asked about a complaint appearing on his Instagram account in declaring: “You do not golf, you play golf.”

It comes as a surprise that the Northern Irishman should be so irritated when he hears someone use the word ‘golf’ as a verb instead of a noun.

Now Mr. President get it correct. You are going to play golf. Not you are going golfing says Rory McIlroy.

And among those who get under his skin in this regard is the embattled President Trump.

“I was watching CNN recently and they were talking about Donald Trump ‘golfing’,” said McIlroy.

“It sort of bothered me that he was golfing instead of probably doing other stuff he should be doing, but I think I just hear it so often now.

“You don’t tennis, you don’t football, you don’t basketball. You play tennis, you play basketball, you play football. You know, you’re not golfing. You’re going to play golf.”

McIlroy returns to competition later next week at the inaugural PGA Tour’s ZOZO Championship in Japan running from October 24th to 27th.

On Monday 21st he will join Tiger Woods, Hideki Matsuyama and Jason Day in a Skins match prior to the start of the tournament.

The current World No. 2 then heads to Shanghai for the October 31st starting WGC – HSBC Champions tournament and then competes in the European Tour season curtain-closing DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
