McIlroy At 8/1 With PaddyPower To Capture A Second Open & A Fifth Major

With now less than a month to tee-off in the 148th Open Championship and Rory McIlroy is second favourite to capture a second Claret Jug and a fifth Major.

PaddyPower has the now 30-year McIlroy at 8/1 favourite to find his way around Royal Portrush in the least number of shots late Sunday on July 21st.

American Brooks Koepka is rightfully a 7/1 favourite having captured a fourth major in winning a second PGA Championship title last May at Bethpage Park.

Masters champion Tiger Woods, who led the 2018 Open Championship for a hole-and-a-half last July, finds himself a 9/1 favourite to capture a first Open since 2006.

Former World No. 1 Dustin Johnson is 12/1 while Justin Rose is 12/1 and former Irish Open winner Jon Rahm at 16/1 to win for a second time in Northern Ireland after capturing the 2017 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at nearby Portstewart.

Local Portrush-born Graeme McDowell is at 40/1 and having secured his place into The Open after his top-10 RBC Canadian Open finish.

Shane Lowry, who superbly regained his 2019/20 PGA Tour card with a super share of second behind McIlroy at the recent RBC Canadian Open, finds himself in a big group at 50/1 as the Offlay golfer heads into his seventh Open Championship.

However, Lowry’s first priority will be to play all four rounds of golf’s oldest major having missed the halfway cut in his prior four starts.

Double Open winner, Padraig Harrington is 150/1 while Darren Clarke, and winner of the 2011 Open, is at 500/1.
