Shane Lowry remained well in contention despite not playing a single shot on day two of the now seriously weather-affected Andalucia Valderrama Masters in Spain.
Despite a four-hour delay to the start of day one, Lowry had managed to play 18 holes in the Euro 2m event in posting a two-under par 69 and trailing just three shots off the lead.
Friday dawned under continuing gloomy skies and with play delayed this time by two-and-a-half hours.
Shane Lowry remains in contention without hitting a shot on day two of the Valderrama Masters.
Padraig Harrington had managed to play just six first round holes on Thursday before eventually ending his round near lunch on Friday in posting a one-over par 72.
Included in Harrington’s round was 15 straight pars ahead of a 16th bogey and a pair of closing pars.
Then after a short turnaround Harrington birdied the first hole of his second round but only managed to squeeze in a further eight holes, including a fifth hole bogey, before the heavens again opened.
Mt. Juliet attached Gavin Moynihan had played only three holes on Thursday and joined Harrington getting back onto the course to post a two-over par 73.
Moynihan then grabbed back-to-back birdies at his fourth and fifth holes to get back to level par when he joined Harrington back in the clubhouse.
Harrington and Moynihan were among 60 players in the 125-player field to start their second rounds.
Officials later suspended play for the day and looking now for a hopeful 8.10am Saturday (Irish time) restart.
Lowry, and presently sharing ninth place and just three adrift of England’s Ashley Chesters, will tee-off Saturday at 10.20am (Irish time).
