McIlroy’s Forearm Generates More Talk Than His Clubs.

St. Louis, Missouri …

For the bigger part of his life, Rory McIlroy’s let his clubs do the talking but not this week at Bellerive.

It goes to show the impact of social media when it comes to the ancient club-and-ball game that for two rounds of McIlroy’s appearance in the 100th PGA Championship the talk has focussed on the adhesive patch on McIlroy’s right forearm.

McIlroy reckoned he began feeling tightness in his forearm during last week’s last-ever WGC – Bridgestone Invitational.

McIlroy was again sporting an adhesive strip on day of the year’s last Major but a lot smaller version than the very stand-out tape he had on his arm on day one.

He’s wearing a Stamina Pro patch and with the company’s website saying ‘It’s a first of its kind and with the patch delivering the power of 200+ constituents which are known to reduce inflammation, promote recovery, optimize performance’.

“I started feeling it the weekend of Firestone and funny enough, it hurts the most with chipping because I sort of hold the angle a little bit,” he said.

“It’s just that in there. The whole forearm has been tight. I hit a lot of balls last week at Firestone working on a few things, and it’s just a little inflamed and a little tight, but it’s fine.

“The patches are the anti-inflammatory patches, so there’s no need for me to take any pain-killers or the like.”
