Gold Medal Winning Rose Told To Strip Off His Duds By Rio Silver Medallist Stenson.

Olympic Gold medal winning Justin Rose was told to strip of his trousers by Silver medal winning playing partner, Henrik Stenson early on day one of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Rose was in no fear of the alligator-infested hazards in playing a shot, with his trousers, shoes and socks. from the water’s edge at the third hole of the TPC of Louisana course.

And the Englishman was getting plenty of ‘Dutch courage’ from Swedish-born Stenson.

It was Stenson who had stripped down to only his boxers in playing a similar shot in 2009 at a Tour event in Doral, Florida.

“My partner told me what to do and do you remember Doral?” said Rose smiling.

“He’s not scared of taking his pants off, so he said to me: ‘Get in there'”.

Unfortunately, both players bogeyed the hole in the ‘better ball’ first day format.

No such concern for good friends Tommy Fleetwood and Chris Paisley who combined ot post a sizzling 10-under par 62 and in second place and just two shots off the lead in the $6.2m event.

It is the 32-year old Hexham born Paisley’s very first taste of regular PGA Tour competiton.

“I was happy that he said yes when I asked him to play,” said Fleetwood.

“It does make a difference. When you got on so well and you feel comfortable, it makes a big difference out there. Especially in that team format where you’re not just playing for yourself really.

“So, there is always that little bit of added pressure on it but then having a close friend just makes it a whole lot more easier”.
