Norman Predicts McIlroy Will End Four-Year Majors Drought In New Year.

Aussie golfing greatĀ Greg Norman reckons a now injury-free four-time Major winning Rory McIlroy will get back in 2018 to winning at the game’s highest level.

McIlroy returned to competition a fortnight ago finishing third in Abu Dhabi and then last week was bittlerly disappointed to have finished runner-up in Dubai.

Though in the bigger picture his effort in Dubai saw McIlroy move back to World No. 8.

And while McIlroy went winless in 2017 and also has not added to his Majors tally since capturing a fourth in 2014 with a second success in the PGA Championship, Norman believes McIlroy can add to his Majors tally in 2018 in winning a fifth Major.

“I think from a happiness standpoint he’s in a better place; he’s married, he’s got a new lifestyle and I think he is going to find his right equilibrium,”said Norman in Omnisport.

“His swing has looked pretty damn good, he seems to have been working diligently on his game and addressing his weaknesses. I’ll be very interested to watch him this year, he’s definitely a top-three player for sure.

“It was undoubtedly a shrewd move to take a break. He’s got the ball-striking capabilities to win a major this year.

“I know his Achilles heel has been his putting, it’s hard to fix that away from tournament pressure but he definitely he has the ball-striking capabilities to win another major this year.”
