Scott Delighted With A Son But Looks Now To Celebrate Ending 18-Month Victory Drought

TPC Boston, MA …

Adam Scott returns to competition at this week’s Dell Technologies Championship in Boston excited to be the father now of two children but looking also to end an 18-month winless drought.

The World No. 18 left Australia earlier this week following the birth of a first son that he and his wife, Marie named Byron.

And contrary to many the Scott’s did not choose the name after a relative named Byron or Byron Bay and Australia’s most easterly point.

“I could not be happier now with both a daughter and a son,” said Scott.

“As for the name Byron, Marie and I just liked the name”.

Scott arrived into Los Angeles on Monday morning and headed straight for Carlsbad where he visited the Titleist Performance Institute.

From California, it was onto Boston and this week’s second of the four-event FedEx Cup Play-Off Series.

However, after arriving at the host TPC Boston course late on Wednesday and then being awake at 5am local time Thursday in readiness for a 7.40am start to the Pro-Am, all Scott could do to fight ‘jet-lag’ was to then after some lunch return to the practice putting green.

After a near two-hour session on the practice putting green Scott headed to the chipping area where he must have spent 30-minutes before moving on to hit around two dozen bunker shots and finally making his way to the nearby range to hit some than six balls with the driver and eventually leaving the course at 4.30pm local time.

“I’ve got a bit of jet-lag so the goal now in going back to my hotel is trying to stay awake to around 9pm,” he said.

Returning home to Australia following a Major and ahead of an important run of events such as the FedEx Cup Play-Offs is something Scott really has not done before during a season.

But on this occasion, Scott had good reason.

But with Scott’s FedEx Cup ranking No. 73 the now 37-year needs a good showing this week in Boston to get himself inside the top-60 so that he will qualify for the third Play-Off event and that is the September 14th BMW Championship in Chicago.

“Even with the birth of Byron I still managed to practice for a couple of hours every day back home at Sanctuary Cove”, he said.

Adam Scott finally hits around six balls on the TPC Boston practice range.

“It’s also great coming back here to Boston as I have a pretty good record around here and the game is good to be perfectly honest.

“It has been good most of the year but it has just been small margins here or there while my scoring average for the year is pretty good (PGA Tour – 69.88) while my results have not been all that bad, as well, and even though I have not been really contending”.

And if Scott needed any motivation to capture a first event since securing victory earlier last year in winning the WGC – Cadillac Championship in Florida he only has to draw on his good record at TPC Boston.

Scott won the inaugural and then named Deutsche Bank Championship in 2003 and his first of now 13 victories in the U.S.
