Li Haotong’s Mother Goes Fishing For Discarded French Open Putter … See The Video.

It was the most bizarre sights in recent times so much so it had three of Europe’s golfer collapsing in laughter on day one of the French Open on the outskirts of Versailles.

As Alex Noren, Tyrrell Hatton and Thomas Pieters made their way onto the 11th green they were greeted by a woman, and with her shorts rolled up, tip toeing in a murky water hazard.

The woman was the mother to Chinese leading world ranked, Li Haotong was gingerly making her way to the club she could see sticking just out of the water and having been thrown by her son into the water hazard after a taking a bogey “4”.

Li Haotong was playing two groups ahead of Noren, Hatton and Pieters.

But not known to Mrs. Haotong was her son had snapped the putter in half before tossing it to a watery grave.

“I don’t think il (sic) ever see a players mum trying to rescue a snapped putter from a pond again,” golfer Tyrrell Hatton via his Twitter account.

In fact, Hatton was laughing so much he had to sit on the green while both Noren and Pieters, along with their respective caddies, could be also seen laughing.

“Absolutely much (sic) watch this… priceless… she thought she was getting a nice new club…,” Ian Poulter also tweeted but unaware at the time that the woman was Li’s mother.

But then when Mrs. Haotong  grabbed the section of the club with the grip she then realised the club was in two pieces so much so he quickly gave up the search for the other half and returned the broken half of the club to the hazard before proceeding to dry herself down with tissues from her handbag.

Her World No. 129 ranked son improvised using a sand wedge as  a putter for his remaining seven holes , including managing to birdie the 14th, in a score of a level par 71.
