Paul Casey Warms To Change Of Scenery From Quail Hollow To Eagle Point.

Wilmington, NC …

It is only just for one year but Paul Casey very much to a liking to the switch from Quail Hollow to Eagle Point for this year’s Wells Fargo Championship.

Casey headed into the storm-affected round two of the $US 7.5m event having shot a first day two-under par 70 and being among just 80 to break par.

Paul Casey enjoys the change of scenery from Quail Hollow to Eagle Point for this year’s Wells Fargo Championship.

It is Casey’s fourth appearance in the event having missed the cut in both 2008 and 2009 while he finished T41st a year ago and also starting with a 70 but ending with a 77

And while a little rusty following a three-week absence since finishing T6th at Augusta National and his third top-10 in the Masters having ended T6th in 2015 and then T4th a year ago.

“This is my first event since the Masters so it has been nice to have three weeks at home with the family”, said Casey.

“But now I have a busy, busy schedule for the rest of the season so it was like trying to grab some rest where I can, and besides Johnny (McLaren – caddy) has a house he was just finishing.

“So, I am planning on contesting the Players next week, The Colonial, The Memorial and then the US Open.

“But to shoot two under the first day here was pretty good as I did feel a bit rusty for the first few days.

“This golf course is a great test where it commands your attention on every hole.  It is also very extreme as the mounding is extreme, the greens in some places are tricky and there is a lot of lumps and bumps that test you.

“However, I think I prefer Quail Hollow as a golf course even though I played well in shooting a first round 70”.

And Casey revealed he will travel to Quail Hollow on Monday to familiarise himself with changes to the suburban Charlotte course ahead of the PGA Championship in August.
