Knox Rues Later Bogey From Middle Of Fairway At RBC Heritage

Hilton Head, SC …

Russell Knox was left ruing taking a bogey from less than 100-yards out late in his round of a 68 on the final day of the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head in South Carolina.

Knox was just inside the top 10 when just 93-yards out at the par five, 15th but put his third shot, a 64-degree wedge, into a greenside bunker but then failed to get out before landing his fifth to 11-foot for a bogey ’6’.

The top-ranked Scot then parred his remaining three holes, including brilliantly getting up-and-down from a back bunker at the last, and with his feet outside the bunker, for a nine-foot par and a then clubhouse share of 15th place.

“It was great save at the last but while there were two or three putts I should have made on the front nine but then I was so disappointed on 15,” he said.

“I was right in the middle of the fairway and just made a bad shot and while it was a good bogey there was a two-shots I possibly dropped there.

“Over the game is pretty but it is that one shot at 15 that sticks out, as if I had of hit that good close then I had the chance for birdie.

“That’s the kind of stuff I need to clean-up and I will work on that aspect of my game this week.”

Knox will do that close to home at TPC Sawgrass and venue for next month’s Players Championship.

And Martin Laird dropped 21 places to a share of 64th place after a horror closing round 75 that included two birdies in his opening five holes but completing the last 11 holes in six-over par.
