Woods Unsure Whether To Tweak Or Adjust Driver After Finding Just Six Fairways.

Nassau, Bahamas

We have become used to seeing Tiger Woods miss the opening fairway in competition but managing to find just six fairways in regulation was very much the story of Tiger Woods first competitive round in 15 months.

Woods double bogeyed two of his closing three holes in a disappointing one over par 73 in hot and humid conditions on the Albany course.

At one stage it looked as though a Cinderella story was about to unfold when Woods moved into a share of the lead with four birdies in eight holes.  However it started turning pear-shape when he played a poor drive down the left side of the ninth into the dunes on route to a bogey.

In fact, Woods had hit just the third, sixth and seventh fairways over the outward nine and managed to birdie all three.

Over the inward half he could only find the 10th, 15th and 16th fairways managing to birdie 15 but taking a double at the 16th.

He was asked after his round about all his misses going left off the tee.

“I was trying to hit some pull‑cuts out there and the pull‑cuts with ‑‑ that’s the hardest thing in changing equipment, the shots aren’t the same so my misses are a little bit different,” he said.

“I’m either going to have to adjust to or, as you well know, this equipment can go right there and just tweak it right now with an adjustment.

“So I don’t know and that’s one of the things that’s going to take a little bit of time and obviously testing.”
