Peter Lawrie Two Back From Moroccan Ceremonial Dagger.

Crail, Scotland … Dubliner Peter Lawrie is just two shots from the lead with two rounds to play in the Hassan 11 Trophy in Morocoo.

Lawrie missed just one fairway shooting in a laser-like display to shoot a three under par 69 to be a four under par on the Red Course at Royal Golf Da Es Salam in Rabat.

Italy’s Francesco Laporta heads the field by a shot at six under par.

Lawrie, 42 continues to strive to win back full European Tour membership after losing his card at the end of 2013.

And helping the affable Dubliner in that goal is long-time coach, Brendan McDaid who is acting as caddy in the Moroccan capital.

“I came here to Morocco not having played that much golf this year and the last time being three weeks ago at the Spanish Open,” said Lawrie.

“However I have been looking forward to coming back to his course as I was here in 2010 and really enjoyed it.

“I have driven the ball great this week and that’s set me up to shoot some half-decent scores.

“I have my coach on the bag so he’s been doing a great job and I am really happy and looking forward to the weekend,” said Lawrie.

Also making the but was Kevin Phelan (70 & 74), Gary Hurley (71 & 76) and Paul Dunne (72 & 76) who doubled his penultimate hole.

However, Co. Meath’s Rory McNamara crashed to last place with scores of 80 and 84 for a 20-over par total.
