That’s a question to be answered later today as the 58-year old German looks not only to capture a third Masters but become the oldest-ever winner, by some 10 years, of a Major Championship.

Bernard Langer will be 10 years older than Julius Boros should he capture a third Masters title today.

Despite dropping a few shots late on, Jordan Spieth is in a stronger position after 54 holes than he was after 36. His odds of winning have reduced from 2/1 to 5/4. Jason Day is the 11/2 second favourite with Dustin Johnson 9/1 and the astonishing Bernhard Langer a 20/1 shot.

“Langer is the story but we expect Speith to be writing the final chapter,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
