Lowry & McDowell Keen To Join McIlroy In Cadillac Overtaking Lane.

Fellow Irishman Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell were upbeat post their second round in jumping into the over-taking lane and making their presence felt over the weekend rounds of the WGC – Cadillac Championship.

Lowry, as the reigning WGC – Bridgestone Invitational champion, reckons there’s a low weekend score coming despite a second round 73 for a level par tally.

The current World No. 23 sandwiched an eighth hole birdie in between bogeys at his fifth and ninth holes before ending birdie, where he holed a 12-footer, but bogeyed his last from a greenside bunker.

And if Lowry is move higher up the board it will be thanks to shortest club in his bag.

“The putter feels great in my hands and I feel like I am going to hole nearly every putt,” he said in a round that included 29 putts.

“But then it was disappointing to bogey the last as par would have been great, and I would be standing here at one under.

“And the good thing is my back-up driver, and after I cracked the face of the old one on Wednesday is really performing well as I only missed three fairways today.”

And Graeme McDowell had a smile on his face birding his 16th and 17th holes in a score of 71 to get back to one over par.

“I hit the golf ball really really well,” McDowell said. “I got off to a slow start and then the last 13 or 14 holes I hit the ball beautifully.

“The putter has been eluding me slightly and I’ve hit a lot of great putts that haven’t gone in. It’s just been one of those days on the greens.”
