Jordan Spieth Involved In Bizarre ‘Wetting Putter’ Ruling Day Three Cadillac Championship.

World No. 1 Jordan Spieth was involved in a bizarre ruling early on day three of the WGC-Cadillac Championsip at Doral.

Spieth asked if he could wet the bottom of his putter on the third green due to the slickness of the putting surfaces at Trump Doral.

Spieth began the day trailing seven shots behind Aussie Adam Scott and immediately found trouble on the par-five first, duffing a chip into a greenside bunker and having to get up and down to save par.

However it was at the third that Spieth could be seen talking to European Tour Chief Referee Andy McFee.

And according to former Tour player Wayne Riley, an on-course commentator for Sky Sports, Spieth asked McFee if he was allowed to dampen the bottom of his putter to prevent it slipping on the slick greens.

McFee was reportedly uncertain of the rules, but Sky commentator Rich Beem, and winner of the 2002 PGA Championship, commented the issue had arisen in previous tournaments and Spieth would be allowed to rub water on his putter.

However www.golfbytourmiss,com will clarlify the matter with Spieth when he ends his third round.
