With a month to go to the season’s first Major Jason Day reckons he’s nervous at thoughts of heading back to Augusta National.
Day will be contesting his sixth straight Masters but with the excitement of teeing-up as the PGA Championship titleholder having captured a first Major of his career last August at Whistling Straits.
The last time a reigning PGA Champion won the Masters was in 2000 when Tiger Woods held all four Major Championship titles to complete ‘The Tiger Slam’.
However Day still has much to do if he’s to become only the second Australian to be fitted with a famed green jacket.

“It’s good to be going back to Augusta but then I’m nervous,” he said.
“It is the one tournament I have always looked at that I wanted to win but then in the same breath I can’t get too far ahead of myself as I first have to focus on this week’s event.
“So I be thinking about April until I play this week and then next week and that is take it a step at a time. But then it would be good for me if I could get things going and start to play really well here as it would good trend for me, not only for my golf and also for my confidence.
“So if I could go into the Masters playing really good golf that would be very helpful.”

On top of this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational Day is contesting next week’s WGC – Dell Match-Play before taking a week off and heading to the season’s first Major.
And he heads to Augusta National with a pretty impressive record having finished tied second with fellow Aussie Geoff Ogilvy on debut in 2011 while he was third to Adam Scott two years later.
In his last two Masters showings Day was T20th in 2014 and T28th a year ago.
“I have been back loving in Columbus, Ohio since December 28th for just the one week and that’s just not because of the weather but just with the way things panned out with my schedule, so after the Match-Play I will go back home for four days and then head over to Augusta on the Thursday before, like I always do,” he said.
“So I will try and play at least a couple of rounds of golf before the ‘zoo’ comes in and get into it.
“That’s the way I’ve done it in the past and that is how I have kind of played well around there and sticking with that form of preparation.”
