Bubba Watson Declares ‘Head Doctors Would Go & Hide If They Figured Me Out’

By his own admission double Masters winning Bubba Watson is a complex individual.

Take his latest remarks and insisting ‘head doctors would go hide in corners’ if they ever figured out what was going on in the American’s mind.

Watson is returning to competition this week in Miami since capturing last fortnight’s Northern Trust Open and his second success in the space of five events.

The win has propelled Watson clearly in frame to clinch a third Augusta National green jacket in just over a month’s time.

If so, Watson would become only the eighth player in Masters history to win three or more times.

But while the golf world continues to get a handle on Watson ‘the individual’ the 37-year old Florida-born player added another chapter to his make-up at Trump Doral and venue for this week’s $US 10m WGC – Cadillac Championship.

“When you listen to TV commentary of golf and what people say about me when I’m playing, or other people are playing, they’re just making it up when they say what I may be thinking when I’m playing a shot,” he said.

“So in saying that it would be difficult for me to stand back and watch Rickie Fowler compete and try and make-up what he may be thinking.  You just can’t.

“So head doctors would probably go hide in a corner if they ever figured out what was going on in my head.

“There is a lot of thoughts going in my head, so much so that I am fearful over every shot I go into and in every tournament that I play.

“And I’ve always said that if other golfers had my mind they’d quit.

“It’s only today that mind has finally calmed down given I only played one round in the last week so much so that I went today for a practice round and didn’t miss a fairway and didn’t miss a shot.

“That’s all because there was nothing going around and I was just out there shooting the breeze for 18 holes with Patrick Reed.   Right?

“So if you go back 11 years to the first year I was on tour to now there’s been a huge change in my golf, my abilities and how I have dealt with it and it’s improved as seen in my scores and my consistency.”

While taking the week Watson celebrated the fourth birthday of his son.

But with US Presidential candidate Donald Trump to be present at his own Trump Doral for Sunday’s final round, Watson was asked

“It is going to be different but then we have had ex-Presidents show up at tournaments, so that is always pretty unique,” said Watson.

“But for someone who is in the middle of a Presidential race to come to an event will be pretty different, and I am sure given he owns this golf course, he will show up.

“Of it won’t be today given it is ‘Super Tuesday’ but I am sure he will show up as this is his baby and he’s a big part of this event.

“So if he was to attend to encourage us that would be something else.”
