Rory McIlroy Not Impressed With Brandel Chamblee’s Weight-Lifting Assertions.

Just over two years ago Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee incurred the wrath of Tiger Woods after awarding him an ‘F’ grade in a series of 2013 end-0f-season report cards that yielded Woods five victories, but then also compared his own cheating in a school test with a number of rules violations committed by the 14-time major champion.

Chamblee was forced to soon left red-faced in having to humbly apologise to Woods.

Now Chamblee is clearly off-side with four-time Major winning Rory McIlroy suggesting he’s making the same mistake as Woods in spending too much time in gym on weight training, and with McIlroy getting onto Twitter to contradict the one-time Tour title winner.

And this is after Chamblee routinely criticized Woods for the time he spent bulking up, and sounding off suggesting four-time major winner Rory McIlroy is making the same mistake by committing to so much weight training.

And Chamblee, who won just one Tour title in his career, again suggested McIlroy could be doing himself dis-service in temrs ofg his performance with his gym routine.

“I say it with a lot of trepidation, because it’s a different era for sure, and I don’t know the full extent of what he’s doing, but when I see the things he’s doing in the gym, I think of what happened to Tiger Woods,” said Chamblee.

“And I think more than anything of what Tiger Woods did early in his career with his game was just an example of how good a human being can be, what he did towards the middle and end of his career is an example to be wary of. That’s just my opinion. And it does give me a little concern when I see the extensive weightlifting that Rory is doing in the gym.

“Thus far, there’s been no signs that it’s adversely affected his game.”

McIlroy, clearly made aware of what Chamblee said, had a quick, simple response. He took to Twitter to share a video of his weightlifting workout that day and with the following Tweet clearly directed at Chamblee.

@McIlroyRory

Re the squats it was the last set of 3×3 at 120kg(265lbs). Did 3×10 at 100kg(225lbs) before that. I’m 165lbs. I’m a golfer not body builder
