Storm ‘Frank’ Strong Winds & Flooding Bring Havoc To Scottish Golf.

Storm ‘Frank’ has brought havoc to north-east Scotland including a number of golf courses – the Paul Lawrie Centre for Golf and the attractive Deeside Golf Club.

The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre is to be closed until further notice after high winds and flooding wreaked havoc.  Owned by the 1999 Open champion, with attached players including Lawrie’s two sons Craig and Michael, Challenge Tour player David Law and Ross Kellett, the centre, which is on the south bank of the River Dee, incurred some severe damage during Storm Frank which resulted in its closure.

“All facilities will be closed until further notice” – Paul Lawrie Golf Centre statement

“Due to the recent flooding, unfortunately the golf centre and all facilities will be closed until further notice,” a statement on the centre’s Facebook page read.

“Regrettably the extreme weather has caused extensive damage to the golf centre, main building and driving range. The priority now is to work as quickly as possible to reopen the centre.

Neighbouring Deeside Golf Club, which is located on the north bank of the River Dee, is also currently under water with levels being described as ‘the highest they’ve seen it’.
