Marc Warren Edges Back To No. 50 In Rankings Post PGA Effort.

Marc Warren believes he can end the year well inside the world’s top-50 and ease the uncertainty of contesting all four Majors.

Warren is yet to contest the Masters but after a strong showing in the PGA Championship Scotland’s top world-ranked golfer returns home this morning (MON) to continue his rise up the rankings restating with Thursday’s commencing defence of his Made In Denmark tournament.

The Callaway staff golfer had arrived at Whistling Straits ranked 51st in the world, was headed the two-hour’s odd drive south to Chicago Airport after a fortnight’s stretch in the States that also included sharing 25the spot in the WGC – Bridgestone Invitational having edge back into the world’s top-50 in  50th spot.

Warren’s final Whistling Straits display was a see-sawing affair with five birdies, three bogeys and a horror triple bogey ‘8’ at the par five 11th hole where he could only advance his second shot 25 yards from a fairway bunker.

He said;  “Overall it was a disappointing week and very much an up-and-down week, and a week when I left a lot out there.

“There was a lot of sloppy shots with the short irons in my hands and that’s something you just can’t afford to at this level of the game.

“I’ve got the defence of my Made in Denmark title later this coming week but then I am very much looking forward to a few weeks off.  I played in Paul Lawrie’s event and then when I found out I was into the Bridgestone and PGA I just flew straight over here.

“So I am looking forward to catching with my wife, Laura and young Archie and then we will all head over to Denmark which will be nice.”

After his commitments in Denmark Warren will not compete again to the September 24th commencing European open in Bad Griesbach, Germany.

Warren has now competed in three PGA Championships and making the cut in each while he has not missed a cut in a Major since finishing 12th in the 2013 PGA at Oakmont.

He said;  “I still have a lot of golf to play this year and it would be nice in returning to Europe I could hold onto my Denmark crown as that would be a first in my career.

“Also I am not really thinking about next year’s Masters, and while it would be great to qualify, I know if I can keep taking these small steps up the career ladder the doors to events like the Masters, the Players Championship and so on will open to me.”
