Ian Poulter Going Back To Odyssey Putting Grips Despite Augusta Carerer Low.

Ian Poulter posted his lowest ever Augusta National round of a five under par 67 but then revealed he will replace the grip on his putter with an Odyssey grip.

Poulter’s now played 41 rounds of the Masters venue with a prior best to today of a pair of 68s to commence his 2010 Masters.

In fact, his scoring Augusta National scoring average prior to this year’s Masters was 72.55.

“I played exceptionally well hitting the first 17 greens in regulation but if you’re going to do that then you’re hopefully going to make some birdies,” said Poulter.

“I made five good birdies, which I was very happy about. But I left a few out there. I hit a few blade shots into holes like 10, six feet, missed that.

As nice as it was shooting 67, I still walk off the golf course thinking I could have had a couple less. But it’s been the same over the first two days.”

And ahead of the third round Poulter had got onto Twitter to remark he wasn’t putting good.

“I’ll now probably put a different putter grip on, as silly as it sounds,” he said.  “I’ve used one putter grip for about nine years in my career.  I went away from that a couple of years ago, but I’ve got a feeling that might be on next week before going to Hilton Head.

“So I’m going to be cutting this current grip cut off the second I get home.  I can’t wait to throw this putter grip in the bin and put an Odyssey grip back on.

“It’s an old pistol grip, an older type Odyssey grip.  I’ve got new ones. I’ve had boxes of them made. So I have plenty of them.”
