Casey One Eye On Second Shell Houston Open Success & The Other On Augusta.

England’s Paul Casey continued his push towards only a second PGA Tour victory with a fighting four under par 68 to move to 11-under par on day three of the Shell Houston Open.

Casey capped his third round with three birdies in succession from the sixth hole and posting birdies either side at four and the 10th holes on the Golf Club of Houston course

He then recorded pars at the next seven holes before his only bogey at the 17th.

“I played good all day and it was just a couple of loose swings coming in that cost me but I played wonderful and very, very happy where I stand in the tournament,” he said.

“I had my first and only victory on the PGA Tour here at this event in 2009 and I am now also really excited to be going back to Augusta next week with the chance of winning a second here in Houston.”

For the second time in three rounds Casey recorded just 27 putts that has seen him post three eagles, 10 birdies and only five bogeys over the three days.

“Part of me this week is getting ready for this week but then I am not ignoring the fact I now have a good chance tomorrow,” he said.

“So I still like to think I have an outside chance of winning this tournament.

“And the good thing about these three days looking ahead to next week is that I am hitting my driver good which you have to do around Augusta because if you don’t drive it well next week you don’t have a snowball’s chance.

“I have to say the putting has been streaky and while the putter got hot on the front nine it was luke-warm coming in, so I have some work to do on my putting and also some of my irons.

“But the rest of the game is pretty good including the short game so there is a lot more positives than negatives and that’s a good sign for me.”
