Harris English enjoys a two shot lead at the halfway stage of the Farmers Insurance Open as Phil Mickelson created an unwanted historical fact in missing a second straight halfway cut in succession in 13 years.
English, a two-time PGA Tour winner, posted three birdies on each nine, in rounds of 68 and 67 to move to 10-under par and two shots clear of fellow American Nick Watney who signed for scores of 71 and 65.
However a day after Tiger Woods withdrew with further back injury and the news on day two was Mickelson crashing out of the event with scores of 74 and 72 for a two over par tally.
The result was a big disappointment for Mickelson who lives in San Diego while he was looking to make up for last year after injury forced him out of the event.
