New 2016 European Ryder Cup Captained To Be Named February 18th.

The 2016 European Ryder Cup captain looks set to be announced on Wednesday February 18th.

That’s if the five-man selection panel, who are due to meet at Wentworth at 10am that day come to an agreement.

The European Tour advised:  “The Panel, nominated to select the 2016 European Ryder Cup Captain, will meet at Wentworth a week today – Wednesday February 18. The meeting is due to begin at 10am.

“Obviously, it is only the five-man panel itself at Wentworth that day, nobody else, and, if they reach a decision, we would plan to make an official announcement later that afternoon.”

Hot favourite to replace Paul McGinley is fellow Irishman Darren Clarke and with his only rival seemingly Miguel Angel Jimenez.

The five-man panel is the past three European Team captains – McGinley, Jose Maria Olazabal and Colin Montgomerie – along with Players Committee representative David Howell, and Tour CEO George O’Grady.

Who will be appointed 2016 European Ryder Cup Captain? Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez or hot-favourite Darren Clarke? We should know on 18th February, 2015.
