Rory McIlroy Named The World’s 35th Most Eligible Bachelor.

After all the awards and accolades to come his way in 2014 probably the last thing Rory McIlroy would cherish is being named the world’s 35th most eligible bachelor.

Some seven months after calling off his marriage to Caroline Wozniacki and the world’s top golfer is among the planet’s top-50 single men as named by American-based magazine Town and Country.

McIlroy has been named one of the world’s top 50 single men by American magazine Town and Country, on a list which is dominated by media types, heirs to fortunes and even members of the Kennedy family.

Impressively, however, McIlroy is one of only 10 men aged 25 or younger on the rankings, with the magazine giving these reasons for his rating:

Why him? The Irish golf phenom, 25, was the first European to win three different majors, nabbing a reported $100 million (£66m) deal with Nike in the process.

Likes: Controversy. He has traded insults with the Ryder Cup and Tiger Woods.

Natural habitat: Gym. Golf. Repeat.

Caveat: He credits his 2014 wins to breaking up with fiancée Caroline Wozniacki after the invites had gone out.

Topping the charts is Stavros Niarchos III, scion of a Greek shipping empire, whose “Hall of Fame dating history and dreamy looks are straight out of international playboy central casting”, according to the magazine.

McIlroy can, however, bask in the knowledge that he ranks higher on the list than the likes of James Middleton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Prince Harry, and even French president Francois Hollande.
