Rory McIlroy Commits To 2015 Abu Dhabi Invitational.

Four-time Major winning Rory McIlroy has committed himself to tee up in this year’s Abu Dhabi Invitational, a Pro-Am being to be staged on the stunning Yas Island Links course on Sunday 25th January in Abu Dhabi.

The World No. 1 will contest the now annual event for a first time and will be joined by his father, Gerry, manager Sean O’Flaherty along with caddy, J.P. Fitzgerald plus close friend Harry Diamond teeing up on the acclaimed Kyle Phillips designed course located literally across the road from the Yas Island F1 Grand Prix circuit.

McIlroy will be among eight European Ryder Cup stars including three others of the victorious Gleneagles team – Stephen Gallacher, Thomas Bjorn and Frenchman Victor Dubuisson.

Also in the field will be fellow Open Champion, Sandy Lyle and Lyle’s compatriot Richie Ramsay, who is the defending champion.

McIlroy is not contesting next week’s Commercial Bank Qatar Masters but will be remaining in nearby Dubai ahead of teeing up in the January 29th starting Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

Also competing in the Invitational is two of Europe’s leading female players – Scotland’s Carly Booth and Welsh, and 2014 European Ladies ‘Rookie of the Year’, Amy Boulden.

The Invitational was first staged in early 2011, and with then US Open champion, Graeme McDowell, travelling with the gleaming trophy to the event.

And following the Yas Island Links Invitational McIlroy will then play host to corporate outings early in the week of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic for title sponsor, Omega and another outing for Santander.
