Those who know me well will be reading this and wondering why it took me so long, and all of three days, for a first game of golf in 2015.
Well after seeing in the New Year I dusted off the Callaway’s and headed this afternoon to the very close-by President Golf Club course at West Palm Beach, Florida.
The course in recent weeks has become like a second ‘home’ course and while I was quickly soaring with a birdie at the opening hole on my very first game on the Eagle Course, there has been one hole, namely the par five, sixth and the No. 1 index hole, that’s taken me prisoner on each outing.
However today’s opening round of a New Year was highlighted by just missing a four-footer for birdie at the par three, 11th hole but then managing to land a PW second shot to around 18 inches (see photograph) at the next, the par four 11th, for the first birdie of 2015.
But then I also had to deal with a few ‘nature’ hazards including two rather large iguana’s lying on the bank running down the left side of the par four, fifth hole along with a number of geese who decided they would ‘play through’ on the same hole.
Then at the par three, 11th hole there was a rather large duck that wanted right of way.
Nonetheless, it was yet another enjoyable round of golf on the President with the setting sun again lighting up the horizon before the full moon lit up the 18th.
