The 2014 Ryder Cup is underway amid scenes never seen before at a golf tournament in Europe.

The European pair of Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson were greeted to a standing ovation before being joined on the first tee by USA rivals Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson.

However the nerves clearly got to Official Starter Ivor Robson who got it all wrong in announcing Watson would tee up first when in fact it was Simpson’s honour to get the 2014 Ryder Cup underway.

And when Simpson did tee off his ‘skied’ his opening shot.
