Phil Mickelson Hits Second Straight Barclays Grandstand ‘Shot Of The Day’ …. Video Of Both Shots.

For a second day running Phil Mickelson had Barclays Championship spectators ducking for cover.

First there was his tournament ‘Shot of the Day’ on Friday into a grandstand at the fifth hole on the Ridgewood Country Club course, and instead of taking relief as he can, the five-time Major winner instead elected to play from the grandstand despite marshals working hard to keep fans at bay.

With local Paramus Police escorting him and fans offering him their beers for his troubles, the area was eventually cleared for him to hit a shot over the seats but then found a greenside bunker on route to a bogey.

“You hit it offline often enough, you’re going to see those spots,” he said.

Mickelson was out early today on day three in the third group of the morning at 7.45am local time.

And by the time he reached the short fifth hole there was not as many fans in ‘Phil’s Grandstand’.

However Mickelson could not believe his misfortune when his tee shot cannoned off a cart path, and for a second straight day into the same grandstand he had found himself less than a day earlier.

Mickelson, who took driver off the tee, could be heard saying:  “Oh, not again!”

And again rather than taking a ‘free’ drop into long grass he elected to play his Callaway ball off the Astro turf to an unsighted pin and then earned a big round of applause in first finding the green and also when his 22-foot putt for birdie just missed the hole in what was then an easy par putt.

However he eventually shot a round of 75 to miss the third round cut.

Here is the video of Mickelson’s shot on Friday.

And Barclays event maintenance staff decided to have some fun with his Friday shot out of the hospitality area, and with fans arriving to that structure on Saturday morning, they found this message.
