Mates Of Justin Rose’s Caddy Drive Off With Rose’s Driver.

Justin Rose had a bizarre tale to reveal at the end of his opening round in the 2014 Open Championship.

Three mates of Justin Roses caddy had visited Royal Liverpool earlier in the week and with Mark ‘Fooch’ Futcher, who has been Rose’s long-time caddy, arranging for TaylorMade to present the three with drivers.

Unfortunately there was a huge mix-up when one of Fooch’s mates went home to Bedford with the former US Open champions driver, and the driver he wanted to take into play at Royal Liverpool.

And Rose was not aware of the mix-up until early this morning.

“My driver somehow was misplaced but ended-up getting put into a car heading down to Bedford,” he said.

“When I picked up my driver from the bag, the driver was in the wrong spot in my bag.  So I picked it up, and said that’s not my shaft.  So it was a driver that should have been given  to someone else, and one of Fooch’s friends while my mine headed down to Beford.

“But then it was returned promptly.

“Fortunately it didn’t affect my game plan.  I was just trying to get by without it.”

Rose posed a level par 72 that included three birdies and also three bogeys.

And it you wanted more information this year is Rose’s 13th Open appearance with his best finish being T4th as amateur when the then 18-year old endeared himself to everyone in 1998 at Royal Birkdale.
